ANANTA is finally resurfacing after going quiet for nearly a year, with NetEase's open-world RPG confirmed to make an appearance at Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live.
ANANTA Officially Comes to Gamescom 2026
Resurfaces After Almost a Year of Radio Silence
ANANTA will be officially appearing at Gamescom's Opening Night Live stage on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The stream starts at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CEST, but the exact timing for when ANANTA appears during the broadcast hasn't been confirmed, so fans will have to stay tuned throughout the show.
This is ANANTA's first reappearance since their gameplay-focused trailer at TGS 2025 in September, which gave fans their first proper look at the game's 3D anime GTA-style city. But ever since then, updates have been sparse. The game's official name was only confirmed back in December 2024 after debuting under the working title Project Mugen, and the months since have mostly consisted of small art drops for occasions like New Year's and Chinese New Year, with no other substantial news in sight.
The silence has only fueled anticipation for the announcement of ANANTA's Gamescom appearance. Some rumors circulating online claim the presentation may include a gameplay demo showing in-game cities and a potential release window, though NetEase has not confirmed any of this. For now, the community will just have to wait and see.
Comparisons to Other Open-World Titles Fuel Community Talks

Reactions to the announcement have been a mix of excitement and skepticism. Some fans compared ANANTA's open-world exploration and anime-style character design to other urban RPGs like Neverness to Everness. While others highlighted visual or conceptual overlaps with existing games, they also made comparisons to ANANTA's Captain looking similar to Rover from Wuthering Waves.
Others questioned whether the game brings anything new to a genre already crowded with similar titles. Remaining fans, on the other hand, were simply glad to see the game resurface at all, with replies calling out how long it had been since any big update. Whether ANANTA's Gamescom showing answers those doubts or adds to them, this appearance may be the most significant update for the game since last year's TGS showing.
ANANTA is an urban open-world RPG currently under development for PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile for iOS and Android. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
