Aether Gazer EN has shared its plans following CN's announcement about the game’s final version and companion server. Read on to learn more about the game’s expected updates and other details.
Aether Gazer Global Updates and Companion Server Plans
Global Version Will Catch Up to CN Updates
Aether Gazer Global addressed concerns following its Chinese (CN) counterpart’s announcement that the game would cease updates after version 5.2 in a post on their official X (Twitter) on July 22. The global version will continue receiving updates as planned until it catches up to CN's content, meaning players will still get the full story, new characters, and the like to come before updates eventually stop. In a similar fashion to CN servers, after the final major update, a companion server is confirmed to run until 2031 for global.
Developer Team Yongshi is thankful for the community’s continued support and additionally emphasized that the game is not shutting down, since servers will still be kept operational for players. The team aims to maintain these servers for at least five years and will review if they can continue to do so after that duration ends.
What is the Companion Server?

The "Companion Server" will allow players to have access to the game, their characters, and the story after the final version update. Both global and CN servers will remain available until the potential end-of-service date in September 2031, though this is still not final.
By March 2031, Yongshi will reassess Aether Gazer systems and servers. However, the team is considering "extending server operation time, or even converting the game into a free standalone offline client." Further details on the timeline of transition and accessibility regarding the game will be revealed in the future.
Pace Adjustments and Refund Details

Ahead of the eventual transition, the team also confirmed that version update cycles will begin to shorten starting with version 4.7 on August 4, 2026. Any event rewards affected by this change will be compensated through in-game mail in later updates, with specific details to be released separately.
Regarding refunds, a more detailed policy is also expected to arrive at a later date. What’s confirmed is that refunds for unused paid currency that also meets eligibility criteria after updates stop will be processed in line with local laws, platform policies, and payment provider requirements, though specifics on the eligible items and how to apply are still pending. In the meantime, the team asked players to plan their purchases and resource usage carefully while waiting for further notices.
Community Hopes for Its Revival

Most replies on the announcement’s thread were those of hopes for the game’s revival or a sequel for the IP. Characters that were seen in the story but have yet to have playable versions were the main gripe of players, with one of them being "Odin," who is highly requested. Other fans felt resigned to the course of action but remained appreciative of the game’s transparency to address rumors and concerns that have been stewing for a while.
Reactions to the announcement have been mostly bittersweet for the community, with a lot of players expressing gratitude for the extra time granted to them despite the eventual final update. Longtime fans were glad that they would still be able to play the game and commended the team’s efforts to keep the game alive and hopefully see Aether Gazer’s return someday.
