Mid-April in gaming has its fair mix of development updates and milestones. Cozy gamers can look forward to the release of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, a decade-in-the-making title, and an Animal Crossing 25th Anniversary freebie in New Horizons. Meanwhile, for progress and developments, it seems that Fable bravely remains set for a launch close to GTA 6’s release, METRO 2039 gets a global announcement, and Silent Hill 2’s Bloober Team works mysteriously in the background, taking on more projects.

Switching on over to the reviews side, Capcom seems to have taken the spotlight once more with their latest game, PRAGMATA. Apart from the sci-fi title, Nintendo’s famed simulation game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, also gets some attention with its long-awaited release. On the other hand, flashy new adventure games like OPUS: Prism Peak and Windrose have made their own unique splash within the gaming community.

Gaming News At A Glance: 9 Years Before Living the Dream, Fable Launching Near GTA6, Animal Crossing Hits 25 Years

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Nearly Took a Decade to Make

    Image

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream had a lengthy development cycle, taking around nine years to complete after work began following the release of Miitomo way back in 2016. The developers explained that their extended timeline was due to the game’s evolving scope and improvements made possible by newer hardware.

Rather than being in constant full-force production, the game’s development progressed over time as extra ideas and new features were added along the way. This allowed the team to create a more ambitious sequel with deeper customization and a broader range of interactions compared to previous titles.

Bloober Team Takes on More Projects After Silent Hill 2 Remake

    Image

Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, has revealed plans for multiple new projects following a recent change in leadership. The company confirmed that up to seven titles are currently in development, signaling a major push to grow its presence in the industry.

These upcoming projects include both original titles and collaborations with partners, with the studio aiming to build on the success of its recent releases. This exciting growth is also in line with Bloober Team's long-term plan to keep on making horror games.

Fable Stays on Schedule to Release Close to GTA6

    Image

Fable remains scheduled for a Fall 2026 release, despite rumors suggesting it could be delayed to avoid launching near Grand Theft Auto VI. The speculation came from industry insiders who claimed Xbox was likely concerned about competing with Rockstar’s highly anticipated title.

However, developer Playground Games has reassured fans that the game is still on track for its original window. While Xbox is aware of the timely release schedule, the team appears to be staying committed to launching it as planned, confirming that no official delay has been announced.

Animal Crossing Turns 25 Years Old and Gives a Freebie

    Image

Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently got a cute milestone update to celebrate the iconic franchise’s 25th anniversary. As part of the update, players can claim a special commemorative leaf-shaped decoration delivered directly to their in-game mailbox.

Alongside the free reward, the update also includes various bug fixes and minor improvements to the game. While not a major content update, the addition serves as a tribute to the long-running series and a heartfelt thanks to its community.

METRO 2039 Coming to Winter with The Stranger

    Image

Metro 2039 was officially revealed with a first-look trailer, confirming a global Winter 2026 release window and introducing a new protagonist known as the Stranger. Set some years after Metro Exodus, the game shifts away from the previous lead and instead follows this new character, as he is drawn back into the dangerous metro tunnels of post-apocalyptic Moscow. The trailer highlights a darker and more oppressive world, with humanity struggling under the consequences of past actions and the main character finding sense in such a desolate land.

Review Roundup: Apr 12th to Apr 18th

A Lunar Adventure, Land of the Miis, and a Picturesque Life

    Image

This week's reviews show a wide range of adventures, from sci-fi exploration to lighthearted simulations and story-driven journeys. Pragmata uniquely stands out as it combines action and puzzles in a futuristic setting. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, on the other hand, keeps things highly fun and unpredictable with its strange character interactions and widened customization options. On the other hand, OPUS: Prism Peak is slower and more emotional, focusing on exploration and storytelling.

    PRAGMATA

    Image

Pragmata is a third-person shooter combined with a unique hacking system, making the gameplay seem both new and familiar. From the central hub, players can explore different parts of a lunar base, gather resources, improve their gear, and get ready for missions. Combat is especially engaging since players have to shoot, dodge, and hack enemy defenses all at the same time, making each fight feel like a fast-paced puzzle to solve.

The game was found to be enjoyable because all of its systems work well together. Exploration is rewarding, combat is always exciting, and progression is steady throughout. As players get more weapons, mods, and skills, the fights get harder but also more satisfying to deal with. While there are still a few rough edges, like slightly clunky movement and some quality-of-life issues, they don’t take away much from the overall experience. Capcom once again delivers a well-balanced mix of action and mechanics that keeps gameplay consistently fun and alive.

    Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

    Image

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream continues the series’ lighthearted life simulation, where players create their own Mii characters and watch them interact on an island. Much of the fun and appeal comes from the unpredictable and often amusing situations that organically happen between the islanders, similar to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing.

This game has gone above and beyond in terms of customization, also giving players more ways to change how they interact with others while still keeping the series' charm. Although Living the Dream doesn’t drastically change the game’s core formula, it’s added enough variety to keep the experience enjoyable and interesting over time.

    OPUS: Prism Peak

    Image

OPUS: Prism Peak is a narrative-based game that focuses on exploration and descriptive storytelling. Players get to traverse the Dusklands, a mysterious but beautiful world, and learn about the character's past while putting together the story bit by bit.

Its slower pace may not be appealing to everyone, but it allows the plot and its themes to develop more naturally. The game shines on, especially in its emotional moments, offering a deep experience that story-driven players will enjoy.

    Loot, Shoot, and Reboot

    Image

This week comes with a peek into early access previews of two games that heavily bank on looting and exploration. A classic wasteland shooter and a pirate adventure with a wide array of activities are emerging as rising contenders for consideration with co-op fans. Both titles, Windrose and Borderlands, focus heavily on PvE gameplay, leaning more towards those who enjoy a less competitive scene or just simply playing with friends.

    Windrose

    Image

Windrose is an open-world survival adventure that prides itself on exploration, crafting, and combat for the life of a pirate. Players can choose to be a loot goblin to their heart’s content, build a base, or sail across the seas while taking on enemies and uncovering new locations.

In its Early Access state, the game already offers a good mix of core systems and co-op play, giving players plenty to try out. While some features still need improvement and fixes, the game has strong potential to be a fun game, one especially played with crew members.

    Borderlands Mobile

    Image

Borderlands Mobile brings the series’ signature looter-shooter gameplay to phones, letting players run through classic missions, defeat enemies, and collect tons of weapons on the go. It keeps the same fast-paced shooting and chaotic feel but instead simplifies some mechanics to fit mobile controls and shorter play sessions.

The playtest shows some promise, especially with its performance and familiar art style. However, the controls still feel a bit awkward, and content is still currently limited in this early version. Even so, it has a solid start that captures the core Borderlands experience in a more accessible format.
