The Conjuring: Unspoken Is Coming to Netflix on October 13
Interactive Horror Launching for 17 Supported Countries
The Conjuring is expanding into video games with The Conjuring: Unspoken, a new interactive horror game developed by Until Dawn and Directive 8020 studio Supermassive Games, set to release exclusively through Netflix on October 13, 2026. Although it first appeared in Netflix’s October lineup in September, the game received its first proper trailer on October 6, posted on Netflix Games' YouTube channel.
The upcoming game is built around Netflix’s cloud gaming setup, requiring a supported TV or web browser and a compatible smartphone as a controller. Netflix Games already has an impressive arsenal of more than 120 mobile games, which includes hits like Dead Cells and Red Dead Redemption. Specifically for Unspoken, players will use their smartphone as their paranormal investigation equipment, acting as ghost-hunting tools such as an EMF reader, infrared camera, and spirit box, while also controlling the character and selecting dialogue choices.

Unfortunately, The Conjuring: Unspoken will launch in only 17 supported countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Netflix has yet to announce whether the game will expand to more regions later.
Unspoken arrives amidst a major change of hands for its parent franchise. It was developed in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, whose parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, was officially acquired by Paramount Skydance on October 6, the same day Netflix unveiled Unspoken. Netflix itself had previously struck a deal to acquire Warner Bros. before declining to match Paramount's higher offer in February.
Story Rooted in English Folklore

Supermassive also isn’t requiring players to brush up on the entire Conjuring universe beforehand. According to Netflix’s blog post, the game can be enjoyed without having seen any of the films. However, longtime fans who are "deep with the Warrens" will get a lot more from the experience, with a few familiar faces set to appear and knowing their backstories adds weight to their appearances.
Alex Farnham, a writer at Supermassive Games since 2022, revealed in a LinkedIn post that he penned the story alongside Vicky Wheeler, who previously worked on Directive 8020 and two other The Dark Pictures games. The story follows the grief-stricken Cooper family after they move into the centuries-old Red Lion Inn, where increasingly strange events begin almost immediately.
Things take a turn for the worse after a failed séance, eventually bringing demonologist Francesca Noakes into the case as she tries to free the family from Vinea, a demon that feeds on grief, and Florrie, a ghost straight out of English folklore. According to the real-life local legend, Florrie’s husband returned from fighting in the English Civil War and discovered her with another man, after which he murdered her and disposed of her body in the property’s well.
Netflix has already tested this kind of interactive horror experience with Unhinged, another cloud game released in June 2026 by Oxenfree developer Night School Studio. In Netflix’s Q2 2026 financial report, the company reported its two most successful cloud game debuts: FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition and Unhinged." Despite that success, Netflix shut down Night School just six weeks after Unhinged launched as part of a broader restructuring of its gaming business.
With The Conjuring: Unspoken now taking a similar interactive horror format and handing it to Supermassive Games, it appears as though Netflix hasn’t abandoned that venture and is even willing to add a famous IP on top of it.
