Suikoden: STAR LEAP Available for JP Region
Launches on Android and iOS Devices
Suikoden: STAR LEAP, Konami’s newest free-to-play JRPG, has officially released on iOS and Android devices in Japan on August 7, 2026. Following JP's mobile debut, Konami confirmed that launch details for the global mobile version and the PC edition via Steam will be announced in upcoming updates.
In light of ensuring stability across servers, Konami aims to release the game gradually by testing the waters on their JP servers first. An earlier announcement regarding the game made note of this upon receiving further updates for the latter development stages of STAR LEAP last June.
STAR LEAP Storyline and Key Features
Set in Solar Year 453, four years prior to the events of the original Suikoden, STAR LEAP follows a new protagonist from a small village east of the Scarlet Moon Empire. After an attack by mysterious enemies destroys their home, the protagonist sets out with three companions: Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur. While their efforts are focused on rebuilding, the party becomes involved in a larger-scale adventure that’ll reshape their history. The game features:
⚫︎ 108 Recruitable Characters: Traditional roster expansion where players build a full party and headquarters base.
⚫︎ Turn-Based Battles: Classic tactical combat mechanics designed for both quick mobile sessions and immersive play.
⚫︎ Voiced Cast: Features JP voice actors, adding an expressive layer for the narrative.
With the recent launch, Konami has been consecutively releasing character teasers and their VAs on their official channels, showcasing the characters to be available in-game. Players can see who’s coming up next on the roster by checking them out!
What is Suikoden?

Suikoden is one of Konami's well-known classic JRPG franchises, first debuting on the original PlayStation in 1995. Partly inspired by the classic Chinese novel Water Margin, this series is renowned for its mature political narratives, detailed world-building, and stories about war, rebellion, and destiny.
At the core of every Suikoden game is the iconic "108 Stars of Destiny", a massive roster of recruitable diverse allies who help build and expand the player's base. Thanks to its extensive strategic turn-based party battles with home-base customization, the franchise has garnered itself a dedicated global fanbase throughout the late 1990s and 2000s. The upcoming accessible title makes STAR LEAP a highly anticipated addition to its universe.
Suikoden: STAR LEAP is now playable on iOS and Android in Japan, with global and Steam schedules to be detailed in future announcements.
