Pocketpair has just teased Palworld: Side by Side, the game's next update. Read on to find out more on the announcement and other details so far.
Palworld: Side by Side Update Set for Winter 2026
Teaser Hints at Popular Characters Zoe, Auri, and Saya
Palworld developer Pocketpair has announced Palworld: Side by Side, the survival game's next update, which is scheduled to release in Winter 2026. The announcement came on October 20 alongside the results of the Palworld Global Popularity Poll 2026. Pocketpair has yet to reveal specific details about the upcoming update or announce an exact release date, though its teaser image gives a hint at what players can expect.
The teaser shows silhouettes resembling Zoe, Auri, and Saya, the three highest-ranked characters in the 2026 popularity poll. However, the developer has not explicitly stated whether these characters will receive new content in the update. The poll included almost all Pals and in-game characters, with Sekhmet taking first place in the Pal category in the global results.
The community was also quick to point out that the mystery figures align with three of the game’s iconic tower bosses. Given that the update is titled Side by Side, there’s speculation that players may soon be able to recruit and adventure alongside these characters. But because Zoe is already recruitable in-game, this strongly implies that Auri and Saya will likely be added as the latest human allies.
Fans Excited for the Latest Update
Reactions to the announcement have been filled with anticipation and excitement, with several fans cheering for the news and hoping that the update could just come sooner. Meanwhile, some players are already theorizing and guessing what the image points to, and others are using the reveal to voice a bit of longstanding feedback regarding human companions.
One fan said it is easy to determine what the update will introduce, since the three silhouettes’ characters were identifiable. Another highlighted comment was a request on whether the update would change how human companions work, noting that having them take up a slot on their Pal team is slightly inconvenient, and it’d be better if a human could summon their own Pal instead. However, the developers have yet to issue a response to the claims and comments at this time.
2026 Poll Results Put Sekhmet and Zoe on Top
The poll started in September and covered more than 280 Pals and 16 human characters, and Pocketpair said they received “even more votes than last year.” Sekhmet secured 1st place in the Pal category, followed by Solenne in 2nd and Chillet in 3rd. In the human category, Zoe claimed 1st place once more, with Auri and Saya taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Full rankings and per-language breakdowns can be found on the poll's official website.
This isn’t the first time a poll has shaped Palworld's content. After the 2025 version, Pocketpair made that year's winner Zoe a recruitable ally in a future update, and they added commemorative skins for the top three Pals. Pocketpair has yet to say whether this year's results will lead to similar content, so the community will just have to wait and see.
