CD Projekt Red has announced a new free update for Cyberpunk 2077, Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5), which is scheduled to arrive on October 22, 2026. The studio revealed it on October 20 through the game's official X (Twitter) account and a post on the official website, arriving alongside the launch of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime. The update will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
The studio conducted a REDstreams broadcast on October 21 at 5 PM CEST (8 AM PT / 11 AM ET), offering a closer look at some of the new features, and it is available on the following platforms: Twitch, YouTube, and Steam. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Update 2.5 will introduce new cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding gameplay. A teaser poster features Edgerunner 2’s Weak Kingsley and a male V sporting 2 firearms, highlighting the new dual-wielding style.
Features Overview and Patch Notes Released
CD Projekt Red has released the official patch notes and a Features Overview video for Update 2.5. The dual-wielding playstyle comes from a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree, backed by four auxiliary perks, which now lets players dual-wield Power pistols and revolvers. Cyberware customization lets players visit one of five Glamdocs to give their Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, or Projectile Launch System new skins with custom colors.
The update additionally includes a side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which rewards a five-piece gear set based on the character King, plus a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, featuring tracks from the anime. Cross-platform mod support through mod.io is also available across all platforms.
Another Edgerunners Update for Night City
This is not the first time the game has marked an Edgerunners release with a free update. Patch 1.6, also known as the first Edgerunners Update, arrived on September 6, 2022, a week before the first anime premiered on Netflix on September 13.
The main addition was Wardrobe, a Transmog feature that lets players change an outfit's look without affecting armor stats, including new gigs, new weapons, and cross-platform progression. The patch also had Edgerunners easter eggs across Night City, including new equipment and Photo Mode features, which led players to items like David Martinez's jacket and Rebecca's shotgun, Guts. Version 1.6 also introduced character customization at Ripperdocs, which makes cyberware customization a natural next step.
