Cursebreaker Owners Will Get Free Copies With Every Chapter
Hytale May Have Six Chapters Before 1.0 Launch
Hytale will give Cursebreaker Edition owners an extra Standard Edition copy to share with friends or family for every chapter released during Early Access. Announced by Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme in an October 9 post on X (Twitter), the offer begins with Chapter I: Out of the Breach, which launches on October 12 at 10 AM ET, and will continue with chapters released before version 1.0.
The $69.99 Cursebreaker Founder’s Edition is Hytale’s most expensive tier, which includes the cosmetics from the Standard and Support Editions, plus exclusive outfits and capes, and now free Standard Edition copies. In his post, Simon explained that releasing six chapters before 1.0 would equal six extra copies. However, at this time, it reads more like a hypothetical example than confirmation that Hytale is locked in for six chapters before the 1.0 launch.
Chapter 1 Brings Hytale’s First Handcrafted Dungeon and a New Progression Hub
Chapter I: Out of the Breach will start at Forgotten Temple, serving as Hytale’s evolving progression hub throughout Early Access. This update will also diversify exploration with new friendly and hostile goblin NPCs, plus a themed world event. These Goblin Breaches will appear randomly around the world, opening portals with loot, puzzles, predators to track, and treasure chests that trigger enemy waves, while the advancing Void eventually forces players to leave.
A big headline of the update is Hytale’s first handcrafted dungeon, The Deepworks, featuring boss encounters with the Feastmaster and Gobliterator. The latter has an optional hard mode, for which Simon previously offered $15,000 to the first streamer who defeats that boss on hard mode in a hardcore run without armor, potions, or glitches. A few Hytale content creators, like Prowl and Edilan, have already publicly announced they’re taking up the challenge.
The upcoming runes ability system will shake up combat with new active abilities, adding skills and modifiers that change how they behave. These runes will also have their elements react to enemies, the environment, and each other. Examples from the Chapter 1 first-look blog post include shooting fireballs at a tornado to create a flaming tornado or at poison barrels to create a toxic cloud. These combat additions build on upcoming gadgets like Rocket Boots for double jumps and a Hookshot.
More Updates Planned for Crafting, Combat, Bosses, and Minigames
Hypixel is also preparing several content updates after Chapter 1’s launch, with development split between cozy and crafting features, combat and items, and dungeons and bosses. In an October 2 post on X (Twitter), Simon said the team intends to release substantial cozy content before Chapter 2. He also announced that the Hytale team grew to over 100 people.
One confirmed area of work is an overhaul of WorldGen V1 for Update 8. Co-founder and Technical Director Slikey has outlined changes intended to improve native world-generation modding, letting creators add resources, caves, structures, biomes, and entire zones to the overworld. He has also clarified that Update 8 is a separate release from Chapter 2.
The studio has also begun reworking Hytale’s crafting system, reducing the number of crafting benches and shifting some activities into in-world actions like chopping wood and metalworking. The game is also developing NPC companions that can help with tasks and busywork.
Further plans include support for community-created content. Hytale’s official account says the team will share minigame code, assets, and an API soon, with community games eventually appearing on the minigames page.

Meanwhile, Cursebreaker owners can already claim their first bonus copy through Hytale’s account portal. Players considering purchasing the edition have only until the end of Early Access to buy it, though its cosmetic unlocks will remain on their accounts after the game’s full release.
