Enshrouded Forging the Path Update Adds Adventure Sharing, Skill Tree Reset, and Combat Overhaul
Arriving Ahead of Autumn 2026 Full Release
Enshrouded's Forging the Path update, the game’s last major update before entering Version 1.0, introduces a variety of new content and updated gameplay systems. It adds Adventure Sharing, a new feature that lets players upload their world in Embervale for others to browse, download, and visit. Keen Games released the update on April 21, 2026, and said in its official live update post that it serves as the game's last update before its planned autumn 2026 full release.
Alongside that, the game also adds a craftable camera for taking preview screenshots, and a Flame Altar toggle that lets hosts choose a spawn point for visitors. The developers say this is only the beginning for the feature, with future updates planned to expand it further with tools for more interactive content.
Existing Skill Trees Reset as Update 8 Reworks Progression and Gear
Several in-game systems have also been revamped for Update 8. Firstly, the skill tree has been significantly reworked, with new skills, skill upgrades, a revised layout, and Double Jump moved closer to the center of the tree to make it easier for players to combine skills across classes. The studio says this rework opens up more build optimization options and helps players reach the outer branches of the skill tree faster.
Gear progression has changed alongside it, with armor, shields, wards, and rings now able to be upgraded with runes, while new perks can boost already learned skills beyond what skill points alone allow. Armor calculations have also been improved, so upgraded gear more noticeably reduces incoming damage, and existing equipment from older ones are converted into an upgradable version.
Combat Overhaul Adds Focus Skills, Heavy Attacks, and Smarter Enemy Awareness
Update 8 overhauls physical combat with new weapon special abilities powered by a Focus resource that builds through regular attacks. Most melee weapons now have heavy attacks that deal double damage and double stun-bar damage, while two-handed axes, two-handed hammers, and greatswords have received updated attack chains.
Enemies now have new awareness levels, meaning they can grow suspicious of nearby noise or begin actively searching before fully spotting the player. Active combat and calls for help only begin once enemies can actually see the player, giving players more time to react before they are discovered.
Quest Log, Early Game, and Base Management Get Quality-of-Life Improvements
Lastly, the update reworks several parts of the early and mid-game experience. The areas around the Cindervault have been reworked, tutorials have been adjusted, early crafting resources are easier to find, and the XP needed for the first few level-ups has been rebalanced. Three new meat skewers for the early game are added as well, one for each class.
On the quality-of-life side, the quest log now separates main quests from sidequests, and important progression quests are highlighted more clearly in the journal. The update also adds item sets, new crafting stations, resource acquisition hints, and a new Quick Stack Station that automatically deposits stackable materials into nearby magical chests. Building from magical chests has also been streamlined, as players no longer need to carry at least one copy of a building material in their backpack to use stored stacks.
