"A Slice of HELL-A"
Dambuster Studios partnered with Brigada Games and Devolver Digital to release a free Dead Island 2-themed collaboration update for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, a zombie survival game where players enter quarantined zones to complete objectives while dealing with infected threats. The crossover introduces "unique missions" and "brings a slice of HELL-A," Dead Island 2’s zombie-infested version of Los Angeles, into Quarantine Zone. The update is available now on Steam and Xbox for PC, alongside a newly released trailer showcasing the collaboration.
Available as a quest event, the update introduces themed missions with new objectives, encounters, and survivor interactions. It is available on new saves in Endless Mode within the first week of a playthrough and from Day 20 in existing Campaign Mode saves.

The update features several survivors from Dead Island 2, including Amanda Styles, a social media influencer documenting the outbreak; Burt Michaels, a former lifeguard seeking redemption; Curtis Sinclair, a retired Hollywood celebrity; Rikky Rex, a rock musician; and Roxanne Kwon, a Beverly Hills resident caught in the chaos. Each survivor comes with a quest tied to their backstory, which gives more context to their role in these missions.
The collaboration also introduces over a dozen custom survivors with their own quirks, who players will need to screen as they try to pass through quarantine zones.
Anniversary Artwork and Infographic

As part of the anniversary, a new artwork created by Roberto Ricci has been released. Ricci is an artist known for his work in video game concept art and illustration, with contributions to projects such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Killing Floor 3.
He also created an infographic highlighting player activity and in-game milestones since launch, including a total playtime of 13 billion hours (around 1.5 million years).
It also outlines player trends, with Jacob, Ryan, and Amy among the most popular Slayers—the game’s playable characters who are immune to the zombie infection—while Crusher, Burster, and Screamer rank among the most defeated Apex Zombies.
A Look at the Series

The series began in 2011 with the release of Dead Island, introducing a first-person zombie action RPG focused on melee combat and cooperative survival. It was followed by Dead Island: Riptide in 2013, which continued the story and refined the original’s systems.
After being announced in 2014, Dead Island 2 went through a prolonged and troubled development cycle, ultimately releasing in 2023 after an eight-year delay. The project changed developers multiple times and was reworked following negative early playtest feedback, as the publisher reassessed the game’s direction to better match player expectations.

Set in a quarantined version of Los Angeles known as HELL-A, the sequel builds on the series’ core gameplay with a greater emphasis on visceral melee combat and detailed dismemberment systems. Across the series, players take on the role of survivors navigating outbreak zones, completing quests, and crafting weapons while uncovering the cause of the infection.
