Crazy Taxi returned with a short official post, putting SEGA’s arcade driving series back in view while its new project remains without launch details.
A Short Cab Sign Clip Puts Crazy Taxi Back in View
Gameplay and Launch Details Were Not Shown
Crazy Taxi’s official X (Twitter) account posted a brief video on May 21, 2026, showing a glowing cab sign on top of a yellow taxi. The clip puts SEGA’s arcade driving series back into public view, but it does not include footage from the upcoming game.
SEGA has not announced a release date, supported platforms, or final title. For now, the post only confirms fresh activity from the series’ official social account.
The update also stands out because the account’s previous public activity dates back to 2019. That makes the new post more notable, especially since SEGA had already confirmed that a new project was in development.
First Announced in 2023

SEGA revealed the new Crazy Taxi project at The Game Awards 2023 as part of a wider legacy IP initiative. The same announcement also included new projects for Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage.
In that announcement, SEGA said the projects were in development, and that official title names, release dates, supported platforms, and other details would be shared later.
SEGA described Crazy Taxi as a driving game series where players race through the city to deliver passengers while performing stunts to earn more points.
Latest SEGA Schedule Still Lists Crazy Taxi

SEGA SAMMY’s May 2026 financial presentation still lists Crazy Taxi under its upcoming console and PC schedule. The project appears as Crazy Taxi (Title TBD), with launch region, platform, and timing also marked as TBD.
That listing does not add new gameplay information. However, it shows that the project remains part of SEGA’s publicly shown lineup of announced future titles.
The same presentation separately says SEGA decided to cancel its Super Game project after reviewing its GaaS strategy. Crazy Taxi still appearing in the upcoming schedule keeps the series visible within the company’s current plans.
Passenger Runs and Stunt Driving Since 1999

Crazy Taxi first appeared in arcades in 1999, before being ported to the Dreamcast and other platforms. The series built its identity around quick passenger pickups, risky shortcuts, city traffic, and stunt-based scoring.
That format helped it stand out from more traditional racing games. Instead of standard laps, players were pushed to earn fares by driving aggressively through open city routes before time ran out.

SEGA has not said whether the upcoming title will follow that structure exactly. The official 2023 description only points back to the series’ past gameplay style.
For now, the confirmed details are simple. A new Crazy Taxi project is in development; it remains listed in SEGA SAMMY’s latest schedule, and the series has returned through an official social post.
