Gold & Crystal Treasure Hunt Begins November 9
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will feature an exclusive bounty hunt worth $500,000. As announced on Ubisoft’s official website on May 13, the "Gold & Crystal: The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway" event is being organized with Europe’s leading treasure hunt specialists and event organizers, Unsolved Hunts, and is scheduled to launch on November 9, 2026.
Players will have the chance to win prizes totaling half a million dollars by solving puzzles and challenges. This includes "an encrypted message in a bottle, a map of the Caribbean, and a collection of letters and archives containing 15 puzzles, packed with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced references."
Participants can solve these puzzles from anywhere in the world with no prior gaming experience required to uncover a buried chest hidden somewhere in the Caribbean. This global search is designed to last between two and five years due to its difficulty, much like Unsolved Hunts' ongoing "Sword of Kings" event, which offers a prize valued at €250,000 (approximately $280,000 USD).
This prize features an authentic pirate cache containing a crystal skull and a chest of gold coins etched with the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced logo, all totalling to $500,000.
The Gold & Crystal hunt is open to participants from all eligible regions, including most of Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The competition also extends to South Korea, Singapore, and various nations across South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Preview Puzzle
Alongside the event announcement, Ubisoft released a teaser for the Gold & Crystal experience, featuring a preview puzzle available for immediate solving. This initial challenge consists of an aged parchment having a formal invitation to the hunt, paired with a cryptic riddle that incorporates both numerical sequences and logos.
Those who solve the puzzle can submit their answers via the provided link until May 23. From the pool of correct entries, 10 winners will be selected to receive complimentary digital access to the full treasure hunt.
Ubisoft has a history of engaging fans through real-life events to hype up its titles, ranging from the Watch Dogs "hacking" app to The Division’s "End of Society" simulator, as well as various other alternate reality games and physical competitions. This Gold & Crystal event serves the same purpose, commemorating Resynced’s upcoming release.
