Shenmue III Enhanced is an upcoming upgraded version of the 2019 action-adventure game Shenmue III from YS NET. The game will feature enhanced graphics, improved textures, and various quality-of-life upgrades.
The game is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games, and Nintendo Switch 2. This will notably mark the first time a Shenmue title will be playable on an Xbox or Nintendo console. The game currently has a release window of Q4 2026.
In Shenmue III Enhanced, players take on the role of Ryo Hazuki, a martial artist on a quest to avenge his father’s death. The story sees Ryo leave the city for a rural town as he continues his training, digs deeper into the mysteries behind his father’s murder, and goes through the day-to-day of a man trying to make ends meet.

In Shenmue III Enhanced, players alternate between living a mundane life and embarking on a dramatic revenge quest. While franchise protagonist Ryo’s overall goal of avenging his father still looms large here in this installment, he must still go through the throes of everyday life. Ryo must find ways to earn money, train, and do chores, all the while investigating the mysterious item left to him by his late father.
Shenmue III Enhanced is a slow-paced game, with its combat relying on immersion and deliberate actions rather than flashy feats. Rather than feature automatic combos and encourage button-mashing, the game requires players to learn how to execute intricate combos while managing Ryo’s stamina.
