MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is a noir first-action shooter with a hand-drawn, old-timey cartoon aesthetic, inspired by the rubber-hose animation style of 1930s cartoons that was also used in the indie games Cuphead and Bendy and the Ink Machine. The fast-paced, first-person shooter offers a chaotic rampage through the streets of Mouseburg akin to DOOM: Eternal, complete with an arsenal of hilariously exaggerated, cartoonish weapons.
The gameplay focuses on private investigator Jack Pepper gathering evidence and solving case after case while fending off endless waves of thugs determined to stop them. From classic pistols to Popeye-inspired power-ups, and plenty of over-the-top cartoon violence, players will have all the tools they need to uncover Mouseburg’s darkest secrets.
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is slated for release on April 16, 2026 on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will also release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at a later date.

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Gameplay
In MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, the player must shoot their way through 20 levels of a noir narrative while tackling a range of investigations in the city of Mouseburg—corruption, racism, assassination, arson, and more. 12 unlockable weapons, from guns to explosives to melee, are packed with upgrades to aid Jack Pepper in firefights against goons and bosses.
Exploration goes beyond gunplay. Unravel secrets in Mouseburg as P.I. Pepper examines leads through clues found in items and conversations with NPCs. The player can also engage in mini-games, such as the baseball card game, which requires staying on the lookout for cards hidden in every nook and cranny.

Jack Pepper
A former war hero, private investigator Jack Pepper (Troy Baker) now navigates the crime-ridden Mouseburg, tackling case after case to settle his mounting debts.
Tammy Tumbler
Tammy Tumbler, portrayed by Camryn Grimes, is a skilled and resourceful mechanic and tinkerer. She earns a living through her workshop, Tammy's Bearings, and supports Jack by upgrading his arsenal.
Wanda Fuller
