Lay of the Land Overview
Lay of the Land is an upcoming sandbox adventure game set to release on Steam on April 8, 2026. It takes place in a fantasy world where the environment itself can work for or against the player, with fire spreading, water flowing, terrain collapsing, and gas posing a constant threat.
The game features a voxel-based building system alongside distinct biomes, including overgrown ruins, caverns, mountains, and temples that contain hidden rewards. A variety of monsters and bosses can also be encountered throughout the world.

Lay of the Land Gameplay
Gameplay in Lay of the Land revolves around exploring the world, collecting materials, and using them to create tools, equipment, and structures needed for survival. Crafting is done in the world, with items placed and assembled instead of through menus.
As players move through different biomes, they encounter a range of monsters and bosses, and can fight using melee, ranged, or magic options. The destructible environment shapes encounters, allowing terrain and hazards to be used against enemies. The voxel-based building system allows players to build a range of structures, from simple shelters to more elaborate builds.
