⚫︎ Ghost of Yōtei rolls out its Hell Mode difficulty in Patch 1.601. The update features Raid matchmaking and QoL and performance improvements.
⚫︎ Ghost of Yōtei Legends' upcoming Raid will definitely be challenging, with developer Sucker Punch declaring that it's "four-player, hardcore content" that can't be done solo, by duo, or even a trio. "Mark my words. You cannot win without four players," he insists.
⚫︎ Ghost of Yōtei has released a new update aimed at smoothing out issues affecting its recently added New Game Plus mode. While not a major patch, it addresses several persistent gameplay problems that have frustrated returning players.
⚫︎ Ghost of Yōtei is getting New Game+ mode, as well as a harder difficulty option, and new cosmetics to purchase in game with a new currency called Ghost Flowers.
⚫︎ The game's flashback mechanic was supposed to be "more complex" and available throughout the whole world while exploring Edo, but it would have taken double the work to execute, lamented co-director Jason Connell.
Ghost of Yōtei Overview
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ghost of Yōtei is the stand-alone sequel to the 2020 Ghost of Tsushima (GoT). It was officially announced during the Sony State of Play September 2024, and was revealed to be set 300 years after the events of GoT. It follows the journey of a new protagonist, Atsu, a female warrior who adopts the persona of The Ghost as she seeks revenge in Ezo (present-day Hokkaido).
Priced at $69.99, the action-adventure game was released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025, including support for PlayStation 5 Pro.

Ghost of Yōtei Gameplay
Ghost of Yōtei is an action-adventure game set in the semi-open world of Ezo, where quests and exploration await. Players take on the role of Atsu, a wandering female warrior in 1600s rural Japan. The game features narrative choices that shape the story, combat with diverse weaponry, and free roaming across Mount Yōtei. Atsu's signature fighting style includes wielding dual katanas.

Ghost of Yōtei Trivia
⚫︎ Some of the cast from Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) returned to lend their voices for Ghost of Yōtei. These include Feodor Chin (Lord Adachi in GoT) as Lord Saito, Judy Alice Lee (Fune) as Yone, and Lee Shorten (Kazumasa Sakai) as Kengo. There were similar instances as well for its Italian, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish dub.
⚫︎ Scattered across Ghost of Yōtei are hidden easter eggs, like the "A Lady in Snow" Onryo Armor dye, a direct nod to the film and manga titled Lady Snowblood, which also tells the story of a woman driven by revenge after a group of men slaughtered her family.
⚫︎ Other intertextual nods that appear in Ghost of Yōtei include the Sir Raleigh the Frog mural from the video game Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, the Blood Rust Honey Sword Kit referencing the 2010 film Thirteen Assassins, and the Sly Thief Mask as a homage to the Sly Cooper games.
