Cairn Overview
Cairn is a standalone action-adventure survival game by The Game Bakers, best known for the 2020 RPG Haven. The game was released on January 29, 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5, following a delay to allow for additional polish.
As pro-climber Aava, the player aims to reach the summit of the fictional Mount Kami, a previously unconquered peak, while uncovering traces of past expeditions. It's a physics-driven climbing game that requires players to read rock formations and manage resources such as pistons, stamina, food, and medical supplies. Unlike more automated traversal systems in other adventure games, climbing is designed to feel tactile, with falls and misjudgments carrying consequences.

Cairn Gameplay
Cairn is a survival rock-climbing game that simulates real-life rock climbing. Players will have to gauge appropriate paths to take according to their capabilities, resources, and climbing know-how. As with real-life sport, Cairn will include ever-changing weather and the in-game day-night cycles.
And although Cairn also heavily features exploration by including ruins and relics for players to discover, the bulk of the gameplay lies in the act of rock climbing itself, down to the crucial micro-decisions involved in rock climbing, such as finding stable footholds, using pitons, and managing one’s energy in the middle of a climb.
