Sugar Lies Is a Romantic Adventure Between Two Actresses and A Guy Who Hates Lying
Liars and Actors Make Nagatsuki Sick—Literally
Kogado Studio, known for their work on the Tristia of the Deep-Blue Sea and Symphobic Rain series, presented their upcoming visual novel Sugar Lies at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The team behind the game, including the VA for protagonist Akari Yukihira, showcased new gameplay footage while talking about the story and concept.
Sugar Lies is a visual novel that follows Akito Nagatsuki, a guy who abhors lying so much that it makes him physically ill. After a chance encounter with actress Yui Sakuramiya, Nagatsuki throws up and realizes that being around her might be the worst possible scenario. Coupled with his childhood friend Akari Yukihira, a stage actress and secret otaku, Nagatsuki must navigate these relationships as carefully as possible.
Sugar Lies will have classic visual novel gameplay, which mainly focuses on the story. The developers have noted in their official description that Sugar Lies does have mature content, similar to previous works of theirs, such as Nurse Love Syndrome and Yumeutsutsu Re:Master.
What is Sugar Lies?
Sugar Lies is an upcoming short romance visual novel by TEAM S:OWLS and KOGADO STUDIOS, with character designs from Ringopann & Omoti and music by Ryusei. The story follows male lead Akito Nagatsuki, one who becomes sick the moment he encounters a lie or act. He’s drawn in by two heroines, both to his dismay, who are actresses.
The title is set to launch on PC (late 2026) and Nintendo Switch platforms (Spring 2027). For now the pricing was only announced in JPY: 2,860 yen for digital and 4,000 yen for physical copies. Other details have yet to be released globally, so stay tuned!
Sugar Lies ASMR Voice Drama Album Will Also Be Available
Alongside presenting Sugar Lies, Kogado has also announced an ASMR Voice Drama based on the game. The Voice Drama is currently in the works and is expected to be available after Sugar Lies’ release. Both voice actresses have a history in large game, with Hikaru Iida recently starring in titles like Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Ikumi Hasegawa playing Yuzuha in Zenless Zone Zero.
Kogado is known for ASMR productions, both in original works and spinoffs of their games. Most notably, Kogado has spinoff ASMR dramas for the Dear Mirror Flower and Yumeutsutsu Re:Master visual novels available.
