Attack on Titan 3 (AOT3) Lets You Invite Hange and Levi Into Your Room

Attack on Titan 3 showcased more of its new character interaction and dining features during its TGS 2026 stage. See how the game expands its relationship systems, expeditions, and Titan combat.

AOT3 Shows New Character Interaction Systems

Talk With Hange In Your Room, Have Tea With Levi

Attack on Titan 3 (AOT3) showed a new way for players to spend time with the Survey Corps during its Tokyo Game Show 2026 stage on the 18th of September. It’s a new feature dubbed by the developers as "Private Room Conversations." It lets players invite characters into the protagonist’s room and talk with them through a series of dialogue choices. The feature builds on the character relationship systems seen in previous Attack on Titan games.

Hange was the focus of the demonstration. As the conversation progressed, the player picked responses to Hange’s questions and topics, with the right choices opening up more of the exchange. The conversations eventually settled into a tea session before reaching what the developers called "Reward Time."

Time with the characters is the reward itself here. The camera can be moved freely around Hange, and calling out to her makes her turn toward the protagonist. There is no limit for this part of the interaction. The developers said players can invite characters back to the room again, so an early end to a conversation leaves room for another attempt with different responses.

This feature is part of a wider character relationship system in AOT3. Players can speak with characters around the Regiment Headquarters and give them gifts. Petra was shown receiving an item from the protagonist, which strengthened their relationship and resulted in Petra giving an item back.

Characters can also ask the protagonist for help. Nifa, a member of Hange’s squad, was shown dealing with a request from Hange to find a particular item. The protagonist could take on the task for Nifa and search for the item themselves. These smaller requests are joined by Character Quests that give individual characters their own story-focused missions.

An example given was Levi’s Character Quest. Here, the protagonist is sent outside the Walls on an expedition. Levi offered to help search for materials. Players can accept multiple quests at the same time, with the developers saying there is no limit, so they can freely do them as they explore the game.

There is also a new dining feature for players to interact with their squad. Characters such as Levi and Hange can join the protagonist for a meal at the dining hall. Kamil was also shown having a meal with the two characters during the presentation. However, the developers have yet to explain his role in the story or his connection to the Survey Corps.

Meals can strengthen relationships and temporarily boost the squad’s abilities, with the developers suggesting that players use the feature before expeditions.

Moreover, save data from Attack on Titan 2 or Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle will also carry over a special companion into AOT3. The companion shares the same name as the player’s protagonist from the previous game and has special skills. Koei Tecmo has confirmed the bonus, with more details still to come.

Players Can Take Characters Out for Quests

The expedition shown during the presentation involved searching for materials that could later be used to upgrade weapons and equipment. Lightweight Metal appeared as one of the mission objectives. As plenty of items are foreign to those inside the walls, the developers explained that players gradually learn the appearance and purpose of unfamiliar materials as they discover them.

The search, though, was interrupted when a group of Titans spotted the party. The objective then changed to defeating the Titans with Levi. AOT3 features a wider range of Titan appearances and running styles, and the developers highlighted more detailed rendering for features such as wrinkles and blood vessels.

The game retains its Omni-Directional Mobility Gear as the main draqw of combat. The developers said that they wanted to preserve the fast movement that defines the series while making encounters with weaker Titans easier for players who are less experienced with action games. New Titan attacks and behaviors will also be part of the combat system.

Character Quests and New Titan Designs

AOT3 will retell the Attack on Titan anime’s story from beginning to end, with original sub-stories and events added throughout the game. Producer Hideo Suzuki teased that more of this original content with be shown during the new AOT3 stage at TGS 2026.

The game will be released on December 10, 2026, for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Koei Tecmo is planning a simultaneous worldwide release. For more on the game’s launch, check out our article below!
