Persona 4 Revival's new mechanic, Location Episodes, tasks players with collecting photographs of everyone in town. As revealed in the September 19th Persona 4 Revival Broadcast, the Location Episode mechanic was briefly introduced, also putting the new Social Link character, Aika Nakamura, in the spotlight.
There was little in the way of concrete details for the new mechanic, but it was shown that on Aika's request, the protagonist will investigate "what Inaba was like in the olden days" through photographs collected across town, presumably from other characters. The broadcast featured several snippets of this new gameplay mechanic, such as handing Chie a picture of herself when she was younger or Yosuke in his junior high days. This mechanic isn't strictly limited to the Investigation Team members; players can also obtain pictures of other characters like Dojima and Nanako, as implied by the scene with Aika where she hands the protagonist a picture for their family.
"As you get to know more about the quirks and charms of these characters, you'll begin to understand and develop a deep love for Inaba," they stated in the broadcast.
Reveals and Demos Leading Up To Release

Fan reception to the snippets and teases of gameplay from Persona 4 Revival broadcasts and live reviews from lucky demo testers at Tokyo Game Show 2026 fuel the hype for the upcoming title. The reception to Aika’s reveal was more than explosive, with many users on social media excited for the fan-favorite anime-only character to arrive on the video game silver screen.
Other users were also glad to see more scenes of familiar characters outside of the Investigation Team, like Dojima, Nanako, and even Adachi. Adachi, in particular, is gaining traction for his familiar voice as shown in the broadcast. Sleuthing fans all over the internet hold out the hope that he is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, who voiced him (and the protagonist, Yu Narukami) in the original Persona 4, its spin-offs, and the anime. However, nothing is confirmed as the voice cast for any character outside of the main playables have been revealed.
Persona 4 Revival is quickly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles for 2027, bringing back a well-loved Persona game back into the fray. For more information on Persona 4 Revival, check out our article below!
