Love and Deepspace x Blade Runner 2049 Event, and Fans Question the Theme
Rendered Real Event Arrives With New Promise and Misty Invasion Rerun
Love and Deepspace revealed its crossover with Blade Runner 2049 with a concept trailer on the game's official X (Twitter) account on October 18th, and the collaboration appears to be the game's first with a major global film. The crossover PV description highlights that "Love is real", leading the community to question it in line with the movie’s theme.
The collaboration Rendered Real event runs from October 19 to 04:59 on November 5 (server time), during which players can check in to claim a Duo Photo Pose called "At Your Touch", an additional Portrait Background called "Manifest", and a 2049 Sticker for free. There’s also a giveaway of $50 for five winners, open to those who follow the account and repost the announcement.
The crossover is not the only content arriving this period, as the update includes the New Promise event, which runs until December 18 and offers tasks tied to 4-Star Memories, including Caleb's Glistening Intent, Xavier’s Favored Exception, and accompanying accessories. The highly anticipated Misty Invasion banner is also returning soon. This rerun boosts 5-star drop rates for select Memories featuring Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, and Sylus.
Fans Critique the Game Going Against Film's Themes

While the announcement featured new visuals, rewards, and banner announcements, most of the discussion focused on the crossover with the film itself. Blade Runner 2049 follows a synthetic human and his AI companion, and fans have pointed out that the story warns about companies profiting from loneliness through virtual lovers.
Several fans argued that an otome game promoting this kind of paid companionship is an odd pairing. An online user even noted that the film's famous "You look lonely, I can fix that" line is meant to read as sad or pitiful rather than romantic, making it ironic in the sense that players may have to spend gacha currency to acquire exclusive memories or extra interactions with LADS’ love interests.
Other posts went further, bringing up the film's turning point, where its protagonist learns that the affection he received from his AI partner, including the personal name she used for him, was a generic pre-programmed feature. At this time, there’s still an ongoing debate about whether this makes the collaboration a poor reflection of the source material. Some even questioned whether either side properly discussed the game’s own themes vs. the movie’s take on parasocial attachment and consumerism.

The response also comes at a time when LADS has faced a consistent string of backlash from its community in recent months after issues with the 6.0 version announcement and even an alarming post about cocktail drinks that had featured toxic ingredients. A noticeable portion of the comments still came from fans asking for werewolf Valko, with some using the hashtag #BringValkoBack and saying the cyberpunk look would have suited the character well.
Others said they were confused by the direction of this collab with the game. Fan reactions are currently a mix of curiosity about the crossover and continued frustration over the game's broader updates. Even so, some players are simply looking forward to the cyberpunk-style event despite the surrounding arguments.
